What Does Identity Theft Have to Do with the Mt. Hood Green Scene Recycling & Sustainability Fair on May 14th?

Identity theft is a major concern and liability for residents and businesses. As part of the Mt Hood Green Scene Recycling & Sustainability Fair (9 AM to 4 PM, Saturday, May 14th), there will be an opportunity for local residents and businesses to securely destroy sensitive documents which have been stashed away– in some cases, for many years!

A mobile shredding truck provided by AccuShred NW will be on site at the Fair at Welches Middle School between 9 AM and 1 PM to perform secure document destruction (with no possibility of reconstruction), and all the paper that is shred will be recycled. This secure shredding process with AccuShred NW equipment and personnel ensures that destroyed documents are never at risk of identity theft or fraud. AccuShred NW provides NAID AAA certified mobile document destruction.

Guidelines: OK to include staples, paperclips; NOT OK TO INCLUDE: binder clips, plastics, credit cards, tapes, 3-ring binders, hardbound ledger covers, …

Other recycling opportunities at the Fair: electronics, tires, fluorescent light bulbs, household batteries, and more. This is a great opportunity to get rid of those hard-to-recycle items around the house.

Although the shredding unit will be shutting down at 1 PM, the Fair will continue at Welches Middle School until 4 PM. There will be many other activities from 9 AM to 4 PM, including:

☼ Friends of the Hoodland Library Used Book Sale

☼ Opening of Welches School Nature Trail

☼ Food and Music

☼ Student Displays & Kids’ Activities

☼ Local Green Businesses & Group Info

☼ Information for Living Green

☼On display, an all electric Nissan Leaf, brought to us by a proud owner from Oregon Electric Vehicle Association, plus an electric vehicle charger provided by Ecotality, as well as a plug-in Prius.

To help pay for expenses of the services and events at the Recycling & Sustainability Fair, a taxdeductible donation would be appreciated (checks made out to Portland Recycling Team). More information on Mt Hood Green Scene can be found at: www.mthood-greenscene.net
